Evonik: New wetting and dispersing additives for maximum productivity

• Evonik’s TEGO brand sets new benchmark with the extension of its TEGO® Dispers product line

High performance industrial coatings must meet the highest standards as far as optical properties are concerned. Evonik is setting new standards in the manufacture of coatings with the innovative wetting and dispersing additives TEGO® Dispers 688 and TEGO® Dispers 761 W.

TEGO® Dispers wetting and dispersing additives promote pigment wetting and stabilization and prevent floating, flooding and settling of pigments. The new dispersing additive TEGO® Dispers 688 is especially suitable for use in matt, radiation-cured, wood coatings and printing inks. TEGO® Dispers 688 produces excellent flow with low viscosity and a low yield point. Furthermore, hardly any thixotropy is observed even at the highest concentrations of matting agent. Productivity during the manufacture and continuous application of coatings and printing inks can thus be markedly improved. Constant matte levels guarantee matte finishes which satisfy the highest demands even after storage of the coatings.

TEGO® Dispers 761 W was developed specifically for waterborne printing inks and coatings used in food packaging. This wetting and dispersing additive consists exclusively of components which conform to the Swiss A-List (SR 817.023.21, appendix 6). In waterborne, binder-containing pigment pastes, TEGO® Dispers 761 W results in properties such as improved color strength development and gloss, both of which are closely observed features of the final coating. It is also highly effective in lowering viscosity, permitting formulation at maximum loadings of both organic and carbon-black pigments.
